Four Mile Creek is the largest sub-appellation in Ontario's Niagara-on-the-Lake wine region. The fertile plain directly below the benchland of the Niagara Escarpment is one of the most viticulturally productive areas in the Niagara Peninsula and is home to a wide range of grape varieties. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are grown in the region, and Riesling also commands a strong local following. The zone covers the land in the center of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is bounded by Niagara Lakeshore in the north, Niagara River in the east and St David's Bench in the south. The city of St Catharines is directly east of the Four Mile Creek plain, and the area takes its name from the eponymous river, which runs through the center of the plain.
