It was originally used as a filler to tea for the less fortunate. Genmaicha is low in caffeine and high-in flavonoids and makes a healthier choice to other teas. How to Use Loose leaf tea has a more authentic flavor than the bagged versions. Add a teaspoon of green tea to a cup, or to a strainer for a pot of tea. To brew the tea, use approximately 80°C water.
